You’re just starting out with crochet and there are soooo many patterns out there to choose from; where do you begin? Here is a list of useful, really easy, free crochet patterns to get you started.
You want to begin with easy projects. Projects that don’t take too long or where the stitch being used is easy enough that the pattern becomes meditative.
It also needs to be something you’re interested in. For me that’s something useful that I will use around the house or for myself.
It’s also helpful for the patterns to be free, to begin with. You’re only just learning to crochet so I understand that you don’t want to spend too much money testing it out.
Free patterns are great but bear in mind that paying for the official PDF has its benefits. You often get extra help, extra photos and extra guidance.
So if you’re stuck and the pattern seems somewhat confusing, it may be worth paying to get the extra pointers.
Which Yarn to Use for These Patterns
Most of the patterns listed here call for DK, worsted ad heavy worsted weight yarns and remember if you want to keep your projects eco friendly, aim for sustainable yarns like organic cotton, hemp, linen.
Yarn Recommendations
Here are some yarns that I would recommend using to make the patterns in this blog post. Again, please check the pattern you are working with to make sure the weight is appropriate for your project.
